Regarding cost monitoring, all members of staff are trained as cost managers, not price managers who simply act as a mailbox through which contractors advise clients of the cost involved. Costs are checked to ensure that they are reasonable before being advised to a client. There can be nothing more frustrating than knowing that a consultant has not checked figures before they have been passed on to the client.

Acquiring the support of senior management from each party is critical to influencing and managing the cultural changes that the staff will face when breaking away from more traditional methods. It is vital that, during the lead-in, collaborative working practices are established that focus on the achievement of mutual goals and objectives.
